Derby RollerWorld All-Nighter 22nd - 23rd March 2008

About every four months Rollerworld in Derby doesn’t exactly throw open its doors on a Saturday Night - more like they just don’t shut them, as skaters from across Derbyshire, the East Midlands, and in fact most of the UK converge on the rink for the opportunity to skate all night until 6am.

The main theme of the night is the obligatory roller-disco, often with guest DJ’s doing their sets, and keeping the mood alive. This is interspersed with games such as barrel jumping and bulldog – although this is not for the faint-hearted, as the games get more and more competitive as they get to the climax.

The next All-Nighter is over the Easter Weekend, and I for one am optimistic that I will be able to get down there. It’s a great night out and another great opportunity to meet (again) skaters from all over the country.

I'm not certain I can cope with barrel jumps at 4 am! Actually, I'm uncertain that I can cope with barrel jumps full stop. This sounds like a fun night, Davey, but an important part of what I like about skating is being outside in the street/city. It may sound curious but if it were held outside (in the cold, br...) it would hold more appeal for me. But it's my loss. I hope you'll have lots of fun.
